It was the first of two trial games the team will play in the next fortnight before the Wimmera Football League season starts.
Joint coach Terry Keilar said the match provided some positive results for the team.
“First of all, there were no injuries which is always a bonus,” he said.
“The seniors had a really good hit out, Gordon is a good team this year and provided a really good hit out for us.
“The players implemented some of the things we have been training for and were quite surprised with how well some of the players were able to do that which was pleasing.”
The Rats led for the majority of the game before experimenting with some things.
The senior and reserves teams both played and were missing only eight players across the two teams. They will face Sebastopol at Alexandra Oval on Saturday.
