The club has long had the plan to purchase a quality ride on mower to enable the efficient maintenance of the grounds.
Now with the support of the community, Ararat Rural City Council, Ararat Mower Centre and Husqvarna, the plan for the new equipment has finally been realised.
The pony club has been able to purchase an ride-on mower to achieve the grounds maintenance standard it has always wanted.
Ararat Pony Club President Donna Burton said the pony club members take a lot of pride in keeping the grounds to a high standard.
“The Ararat Pony Club is feeling the value of being in a supportive community,” she said.
“This is important for not just our members, but also other riders that visit the grounds.
“Having this new Husqvarna mower from the Ararat Mower Centre allows us to have well kept grounds without having to spend as many hours maintaining them as we have in the past.”
The pony club has recently opened the grounds to neighbouring pony clubs as well as hosting the International Mounted Games team.
Along with the opportunities it gives its own members to use the grounds, the grounds and rooms need to be kept at a high standard when it opens it gates to visitors.
Other groups to use the pony club include the Mount Cole Equestrian Association, which hosts horse shows, and gymkhanas who also use the grounds.
These groups bring large numbers of visitors to Ararat for their events and also benefit the district’s nad pony club’s riders.
The grant was organised by pony club secretary Tina Wilde, through Ararat Rural City Council’s community support program.
She said the mower would not have been bought without council support.
“The council has been very supportive of Ararat Pony Club through providing this grant,” she said.
“They like to see Ararat district clubs well attended and have quality facilities to work with.
“It was a lovely surprise to hear from Barry McLaughlin that the Ararat Mower Centre and Husqvarna were also supporting the club by offering a great deal on the excellent mower, and by giving a 20 per cent discount, which made the mower very affordable.
Ararat Pony Club hosts its rally day on the second Sunday of each month.
