The Victorian Vietnam Veteran’s Ceremonial Team will visit Stawell from Melbourne to re-enact the Long Tan at the Stawell Masonic Centre on Tuesday, April 11.

Marnoo Lodge secretary Neil Thornton said for those who had witnessed the ceremony of the Unknown Soldier in the past, the Vietnam ceremony was more emotional and relative to present war service of today.
“It is a really emotional ceremony and it is a great insight into the battle of Long Tan for those who who don’t know much about it,” he said.
A presentation will be made to the Stawell and District Hospital of $4700 to buy special aprons for the theatre staff when x-ray equipment is in use.
The Marnoo Masonic Lodge and Freemasons Foundation of Victoria will be contributing the grant.
Freemasons Foundation of Victoria has made numerous grants to appeals across the state in the last 12 months to the amount of $1.6 million and $4 million from district lodges.
The ceremony will start at 8pm and will be followed by a dinner.
