Horsham council said the trees at the eastern end of Roberts Avenue had become a hazard due to their age and the risk of falling limbs.
Works to remove the trees are planned for this week, prior to the return of students to St Michael and John’s Primary School.
Similar trees (Chinese elms) will be replanted in the winter.
Council said it had contacted Horsham RSL ahead of the trees’ removal.
