Hinchliffe defeated Murray Jensen 26 shots to 19 to earn the honour.
Jensen built a significant lead early in the match and looked comfortable with a nine-shot lead after 15 ends.
This prompted Hinchliffe to change his approach and adjusted the length of the jack.
The move paid off, with Hinchliffe winning the next eight ends to complete the comeback.
Hinchliffe faced Frank Logan in the first round but Logan was forced to forfeit due to a back injury.
In the semi-final Hinchliffe defeated Richard Schwab in a marathon match played over 29 ends to finish with a 25 shots to 16 victory.
Jensen defeated Sam Kelly and Clayton Holcombe to qualify for the final.
The Ararat VRI championships were a good chance for players to loosen up before the pennant season resumed.
