A SOUTH Australian man has told Horsham Magistrate’s Court he was trying to get his life back on track after he was caught driving with crystal methamphetamine, also known as ice, in his system. Shane Conrad Klose, 45, was stopped by police while driving south on Hillary Street in Horsham in August last year.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Matt Haughton said police stopped the silver Holden sedan about 1.48am and requested Klose take an oral fluid test.
Klose told police he had consumed an amount of ice.
He told police he did not think the substance would still be in his system.
Klose told magistrate Dan Muling he was visiting his girlfriend in Horsham.
“I’ve been clear now for two months,” he said.
“Since the time of being pulled over I’ve seen a counsellor to deal with it and it’s helped me quite a lot.
“I’m trying to get my life back on track.”
In pleading guilty, Klose said he accepted he would lose his licence for a minimum of six months and told the court drugs became an issue after he split from his ex-wife seven or eight years ago.
Mr Muling told Klose he was the only one who could do anything about his drug issue. He said the father of two had to set an example.
“Children are very impressionable,” he said.
“You’d be mortified if either one of them did ice.”
Klose was fined $500, disqualified from driving for six months and his licence was cancelled.
A DIMBOOLA man has been fined $250 and had his licence suspended for six months after police detected cannabis in his system.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Matt Haughton said Glen Dixon, 45, was stopped on May Park Terrace in Horsham on July 25 about 3.15pm. The court heard oral fluid testing detected cannabis in Dixon’s system.
Dixon told police he smoked cannabis the previous day but did not think it would still be in his system.
He said he had been under a lot of stress and did not drink or touch any other drugs. Dixon pleaded guilty to the charge. He said he had made a mistake and was receiving counselling.
