The work of the 130 people involved in the production will be acknowledged at Horsham’s Australia Day celebrations.
Art’s Council president Simon Dandy said the event was a great start for the refurbished Town Hall and the award was a fantastic recognition for the hours of work put in.
“You don’t do things for awards,” he said.
“It’s said often but it’s true, you don’t do things for recognition but when it comes it helps.
“It shows you’re doing something right.”
Mr Dandy said the production ran for five nights, with about 80 people on stage.
“It took a lot of work and effort,” he said. “It had numbers from 33 or 34 shows.
“The award is fantastic for everyone involved, I think there was probably no better way to open the Town Hall. We sold out five shows and had people wanting more.
“To have that many people through the hall in the first few weeks of the theater was great.”
Mr Dandy said the award would hopefully bolster the group’s future endeavors.
“It shows we’re doing quality,” he said
“It’ll help attracting new people to come and hopefully new businesses to support us. It’s definitely and honour for us.”
Horsham mayor Pam Clarke said the Horsham Arts Council had a long history of providing spectacular musical productions and have been a significant part of the community for 50 years.
