The school notified parents of Mr Weir’s passing on Monday.
Acting principal Andrew Parry said the news come as a tremendous shock to everyone as Jason was an extremely popular and respected member of the staff over many years.
“In recent years Jason has taught Grade Four. His keen sense of humour ensured positive relationships with everyone in the school community,” Mr Parry said.
“Tributes have reflected the high standing Jason had with students and parents both past and present.”
Mr Parry said Mr Weir had a passion for developing the grounds of the school.
“His love of gardening coupled with his sense of humour is evident as you walk around the school,” he said.
“Students were delighted at assembly when Jason’s alter ego ‘Gary the Gardening Guru’ burst onto the stage. Everyone present waited with anticipation to hear his jokes and gardening tips.
“Jason was a loved staff member and will be sadly missed by everyone.”
