YMCA centre manager Samantha Winter said she was delighted to be able to offer the service to the community.
Horsham Primary’s 298 campus will host the service.
“The after school care program will provided a new bus service with on-board staff to transport children from school to care,” Ms Winter said.
Ms Winter said YMCA educators would run a diverse and exciting mix of quality care and programs.
Some of the activities available to children through the program would include sports, games, art and craft, cooking, creative - expressive arts, gardening and homework time.
Mayor Pam Clarke said after school and vacation care was an important service in the region.
“The YMCA are industry leaders in providing excellent after school care and school holiday programs for primary school aged children and I’m thrilled they will be delivering the new service,” she said.
“The service is not only a great solution for busy families but provides children with the opportunities to grow and learn in a fun safe and empowering environment.”
Horsham mother Tegan Burns said she was pleased the YMCA would be the service provider for the new after school care and school holiday program.
“My family has been long term members and service users of the YMCA’s Horsham Aquatic Centre and we have always enjoyed the friendly, professional staff and excellent programs and services provided there,” she said.
“It is such a relief to know that my children will be well cared for, experience exciting activities, meeting new friends and having fun while I’m at work.”
Mrs Burns said the service would start just in time for her family as she had just secured a new job.
