Stawell Golf Purple has closed the gap at the top of the ladder with a 74 shots to 66 win against Aradale in the Grampians Bowls Division midweek competition.

The Purple team claimed 10 points from the win to move equal with Stawell Golf Pink at the top of the ladder with 66 points.
It was a closely fought match with the biggest margin six shots across all three rinks.
The visitors only dropped one rink with Purple’s Dulcie Molan losing by a single shot.
Ararat caused an upset when it defeated ladder leaders Stawell Golf Pink by 35 shots.
Val Tonkin won her rink comfortably by 23 shots to set up the win for the home side.
Enid Reid was the only Pink player to win her rink.
Stawell Gold won all three rinks to claim maximum points against third-placed Stawell Blue to close the gap on the ladder to four points.
The Gold team won 75 shots to 64.
There were some big margins in the rinks between Lake Bolac and Ararat VRI Red with the points split between both teams.
Lake Bolac’s Joan Curnow scored 44 shots to win her rink by 31 before VRI Red won the remaining two rinks.
Chalambar got on the winners list against Ararat VRI Green with a 74 shots to 50 victory at home.
Colleen Wilkinson led the way after scoring 36 shots to win her rink by 29.
Curnow’s margin was enough to get her team eight points from the 84 shots to 63 final score.
The win moves Chalambar up to 22 points but remain in last place.
Stawell teams continue to hold the top four spots.
