The brochure has important information regarding burning off, upcoming property inspections, how to best prepare for scorching temperatures in summer and where the Neighbourhood Safer Places are located across the municipality.
The brochure also contains two general household waste, free green waste disposal vouchers, which are valid from November 1 to January 31, 2017.
Terms and conditions are included on voucher.
Ararat Rural City Council’s emergency services, safety and local laws manager Matthew Wood said planning and preparing for the fire season is a shared responsibility.
“Current forecasts show that there is potential for an above average fire season in Victoria in the west of the state,” he said.
“Increased vegetation growth is expected this year.
“This brochure is another friendly reminder to not delay your fire planning or your annual clean up.
“Once you have cleaned up, seasonal re-growth must also be managed.
“It is anticipated that every residence will have a copy of the Ararat Rural City Council fire season brochure by Friday, November 4.
“Additional copies are available at Customer Service or by contacting emergency management coordinator David Todd on 5355 0912.”
