The expo was launched at a function at Horsham’s Victoria Hotel on Wednesday.
Existing members, businesses and schools heard organisers speak about their ideas and plans for next year’s event.
Outgoing chairman Chris Wallis gave acting chairman Andrew Vague and project officer Annie Mintern the chance to open the door to new ideas for the 2017 expo.
Ms Mintern said the night was a success.
“We had about 10 people turn up with a few letting us know they were unable to make it,” she said.
“We discussed the upcoming planning meeting in November where a committee and chairman will be elected.
“There was a Yarriambiack councillor and a couple of school principals. We were looking for good input from a mix of people so we can make sure the event caters for everyone.”
Ms Mintern said a venue would be decided closer to the November 16 meeting.
“We talked about a few changes that we would like to happen,” Ms Mintern said.
“We want input from everyone, businesses and schools.”
Ms Mintern said the committee would work hard to get the general public to attend the expo.
“Not many people know that the expo is for everyone,” she said.
“This is a great way for people find out what different career or education opportunities are available.”
She said organisers would also like to expand the expo’s hands-on experience.
“There is a hands-on trade session at the expo and I think it would be good to make another hands-on section for professionals, such as dentists,” she said.
“We really want to streamline the whole event with more variety so there is something for everyone.
“We would also like to make sections of each career clearer so it is easier for people to navigate.
“A disability business is very keen to come along to the expo as well.”
Ms Mintern said the careers expo would cater for all industries.
“We are still looking for some new ideas,” she said.
Ms Mintern said anyone wanting more information about the 2017 expo or anyone who was interested in joining the Western Victorian Careers Expo committee could call her on 0437 588 306 or email admin@wimmeracareerexpo.com
