The Swifts failed to make an impact on the finals in the senior football and even its junior teams couldnt make the big dance.
Club president Steve Hoffman however remains positive of future success following the year.
“It was disappointing not to have a big impact on grand final day,” Hoffman said.
“We had no teams in, but our juniors did better than anyone expected and our seniors were the best of the rest. It gives us something to work on next season.”
A positive for the club was the way they developed its youth with several junior players making the transition to senior football.
Swifts relied on its junior players to step up and play senior football once injuries continuously hit the club.
Sam Raeck had another successful year in the under 17s as well as playing games in the senior line up.
“Our goal was to develop our kids so that they can play senior football in the years to come,” Hoffman said.
“We think we have been successful on that front so overall the year has had some positives.”
In terms of the playing list coach Scott Carey took out the best and fairest from Sean Mantell.
Nick Pickering had another stand out year and continues to get better and better with his leadership on and off the field.
Carey’s future in the top job looks to be settled as discussions have been had in order for him the remain the coach.
Carey returned some positive performances in his first year at the helm.
Swifts are unsure if Sean Mantell will continue as the assistant coach at this stage, but were hoping to finalise the position in the coming weeks.
The Swifts Football Club are still in a strong position and with the continued support of the committee Hoffman is hoping for big things in 2017.
The committee will most likely remain unchanged following the annual general meeting that is to be held on October 10.
The main priority for the club is to get an A Grade team up and running.
“We are working really hard on a lot of things, but our A Grade team is a priority at the minute,” Hoffman said.
“It was a shame we didn't have a team this year and we want to turn it around next season.”
