Andrew Bach was in charge for his second and final year.
The coach was happy with the progression he made with several of the junior players.
Jayden McCartney and Cam Notting contributed to the senior line up while Bryson Chessels, Riley Reid, Marcus Elliott, Tom Brady and Cam Bowman were all rewarded with senior game time.
The highs were few and far between for the Lions as they lost game after game.
“Obviously not winning games is very disappointing,” Bach said.
“You can’t build a winning culture with only 15 players at training for two teams. There was a lack of numbers at training and even on game day because players are not committed.”
Bach constantly battled to get players on the training track on Tuesday’s and Thursday night, but there was little response.
New recruit Liam Christian made the most of his season and tried his best at training and on game day.
“Liam (Christain) made a vast improvement from when he first turned up,” Bach said.
“We put a lot of work into him throughout the season because he was willing to listen and learn.”
Aside from a more committed playing group the club also needs to find people willing to help the club regain success.
“There is always a lot of people who critisise each club but too few of people actually putting their hand up to help out.”
“There are a couple of really hard workers at the club, but they need more people doing jobs to ensure the club survives going forward.”
Bach leaves the club with a bitter taste in his mouth having not reached goals set at the club.
“I feel disappointed for the people at the club who want to be successful,” Bach said.
“It is easy to sit back and criticise and be negative, but people need to get in and help turn the club around.”
Bach would have liked to achieve more in his time, but it wasn't to be.
“Football Club culture is different now because football is often not a players first passion. As a result the commitment just isn't there. It takes a lot of hard work to win games of football let alone win finals and I have been lucky enough to achieve that.
“I love a challenge and really hope we could achieve more, but I thank Great Western for letting me be a part of the club.”
Great Western are in the process of trying to find a replacement for Bach.
