The game was McRoberts’ last chance to impress AFL recruiters on the footy field before the draft.
McRoberts said it was a great day to be a part of.
"It was a good experience,” he said.
"A lot of the boys there played VFL so that was handy.
"I did not really think too much about the AFL recruiters.”
The 17-year-old is a versatile footballer who can play anywhere the coach requires.
McRoberts said he played in a mix of positions on Sunday.
"I played a half in the midfield and a half in the backline,” he said.
“I probably did not stand out but I think I did my job.”
McRoberts played across the half-back flank for the North Ballarat Rebels during the 2016 TAC Cup season.
He said he exceeded all of his own expectations for the year.
“I did not expect to play much but I played all games except the three games I was suspended.”
He had plenty of friends to share the year with.
“Not knowing a lot of the Ballarat boys, playing with Tom Williamson, Jackson Taurau and Riley Taylor definitely helped,” he said.
He will turn 18 in December, so is eligible for the 2016 AFL draft.
McRoberts said he had some interest from clubs.
“Had a meeting with some recruiters a few weeks back,” he said.
“But I will just take a few weeks off and take a break before preseason starts.”
