Poultry club organiser Brendan Lloyd said the auction also attracted a fair few spectators who came to view the more exotic specimens and some buyers who closed a sale after bidding finished.
“It went really well. We had 128 pens with over 300 birds,” he said.
“Most of the birds met their reserve price and were sold at auction. Some others who did not meet reserve were able to negotiate a price afterwards.
“Some birds went for good price and some went cheap but I think most people got what they wanted.”
Mr Lloyd said the highlights included a trio of white leghorns for $150 and an australorp cockerel for $91.
