The Northern Grampians shire has seen a week of heavy rainfall starting last Friday.
Mount William at the Grampians, Ararat and Stawell all recorded rainfall levels above the September average.
Overnight Stawell received 25 millimetres with more on the way later today and this evening.
Forecaster from the Bureau of Meteorology Peter Newham said the rainfall to come will be quite heavy.
"Stawell and Ararat could see significant bursts of rain, eventually easing tomorrow morning at sunrise," he said.
SES spokesperson Jackie Quaine said there have been no requests for assistance in the area but are keeping an eye out for potential flooding in the Stawell and Horsham areas.
"We'll have our volunteers at the ready late this afternoon and overnight when the heavy rain is expected to fall," she said.
"We’re encouraging residents to place their belongings on raised platforms and for farmers to move their livestock to higher ground.
"Don't drive or walk through floodwaters, that's where the most dangers are."
