The win adds to Shea’s five A Grade Hatcher medal wins, the most recent in 2012, and more than 400 games within the association.
In her acceptance speech she talked about how, when deciding to retire from A Grade netball, she had not wanted to stop playing but thought it was time to let the next generation take to the court.
Shea said it was an honour to receive the award.
“I played with great teammates as well so I’d like to thank them,” she said.
On her way to a tally of 30 votes throughout the season Shea was awarded a maximum three votes in eight of the 13 games she played.
There was only two games in which she was not adjudged to be amongst the top three players on the court.
This reflects on both the level of her play and the dominant season of Ararat who have not lost a game all season.
Shea’s Ararat teammate Jess Williamson was awarded the A Grade rising star award.
Ararat’s Georgia Fleming finished in equal third place in the C Grade standings.
Donna Spalding was also presented with life membership of the Wimmera Netball Association
