Kate Hawker, 14, will lose her locks as part of the World’s Greatest Shave, which raises money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
“I decided to shave my head partly because I had a friend in Scouts who did it and she was very inspirational,” she said.
“But I mostly wanted to do it because I felt that if losing my hair meant I could raise money for leukaemia research, which will save many lives in the future, then why wouldn't I do it?”
Kate is hoping to raise $2000 for the foundation.
“So far I have I have raised $1303,” she said.
Collection tins have been set up in Kaniva shops to help Kate reach her goal.
Family and friends have also donated generously.
Kate said she would shave her head on October 8 at this year’s Kaniva Agricultural and Pastoral Society Show.
