Well, the ponies are packed and I’ve started blowing-up the giant slide for this weekend’s free family fun day at Sawyer Park, Horsham.

OK, OK. I haven’t really got the ponies tucked up in my tandem trailer.
But we do have 1300 fun bags for primary school-aged children ready to go for Operation 19:14.
As I type, we’re gathering gazebos and tracking down tressle tables.
Meanwhile, our 160 church volunteers are busy building the strength to give away thousands of dollars worth of food, entertainment, rides and activities during four hours of fun this coming Sunday.
We’ve asked each of our dedicated helpers to kindly pack a snack for themselves, so that each of the 1500 hot jam donuts we deep fry and douse in sugar and cinnamon can go to our many guests.
Heck, if you are on the donut stand though, someone has to be the quality control taste tester.
We don’t want that jam to get too hot or the cinnamon versus sugar ratio to be even slightly out of whack.
Although I am a donut expert – and I’m more than willing to take one for the team – I am sadly not the taste tester this year.
Instead, I’ll be able to try out one of the hundreds of temporary tattoos I’ve got all ready to go.
Or whip up a few badges to wear on stage as I co-MC the show.
Which, as always, will feature lots of local and imported talent.
Along with everything happening on centre stage, co-ordinating 30 stands has certainly kept our organising committee nice and busy.
All their pre-work in planning, fundraising, budgeting, booking, data managing, communications, graphic design and publicity – generously donated, of course – is what adds up to making the event the great celebration of young families and children that it is.
It is such a blast to work with a bunch of passionate people.
I just wish I wasn’t always so nervous that I can’t enjoy it until it’s over!
Sleepless nights and confused nervous pacing will be the order of the day for me this week.
Quite a lot of frantic, rushing about will be the only activity breaking it up. So please, come along and be pampered!
