Crowlands locals attended the official opening, welcoming the upgraded access to their community.
The construction of the new bridge has been a joint project with the Ararat Rural City Council, Pyrenees Shire Council (the Wimmera River is the municipal boundary) and the State Government.
The existing bridge was a timber three span, single lane bridge which had a load limit placed on it some years ago. The old structure was showing signs of fatigue and was no longer suitable for traffic requirements of this important link road.
The replacement bridge was constructed by Bridge and Marine and now provides two lane access over the Wimmera River. This project was made possible due to funding from the State Government's Country Roads and Bridges Initiative.
