The Wimmera Southern Mallee VETiS ‘Try VET Day’ gave students from 13 schools a chance to learn about industries including electronics, hairdressing, beauty and plumbing.
Federation University Horsham campus VETiS liaison officer Kim Boulton said the day let students try different courses before deciding to do VET.
“It’s about nurturing the students – a lot of them might not want to stay at school, but they like coming to VET,” she said.
The VETiS courses are run across the university, Longerenong College, Wimmera Trade Training Centre and Wimmera Hub.
Ms Boulton said the students were able to pick two industries to try on Thursday.
