The group has scheduled a roast lunch with raffles and giveaways at Horsham’s Bull and Mouth Hotel on August 7 from 12-5pm.
Group trustee Brendan McKinnon said the money raised would go towards supporting Wimmera families with sick children.
“The money goes to Wimmera Against Cancer in Kids but one of our main beneficiaries is Ronald McDonald House because so many families from the Wimmera make use of it,” he said.
“We are not only supporting Ronald McDonald House in Victoria but in South Australia as well.”
“It’s the fourth year we’ve held the event.
Ronald McDonald House provides accommodation and support for families who travel to capital cities to their children can access specialist medical treatment.
Ronald McDonald House has 50 accommodation places available near the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and its executive officer Peter Bishop will be a guest at the Horsham lunch.
Mr Bishop said he encouraged everybody to attend the lunch and help raise money for Wimmera Against Cancer in Kids and Ronald McDonald House.
“The group has been a good long-term supporter of families who come down to Ronald McDonald House from that region,” he said.
“Some families stay with us for months, predominately for cancer treatment.
“Fundraising supports welcome packs, improvements to facilities and a shuttle bus.”
Mr Bishop said about 12 per cent of families that stay with Ronald McDonald House each year came from the Wimmera and Mallee.
