The league met on Monday night to finalise the venues for the upcoming finals series.
Rats President David Jennings said it was a good result for the club.
“We’ve been working in conjunction with Ararat Rural City Council,” he said.
“It was a joint effort.
“Council wrote a letter requesting a final, so we’re very happy.”
The Wimmera league finals start on August 13
“It’ll be the only final in the area,” Mr Jennings said.
Week one of the finals will begin on August 13.
AFL Wimmera Mallee general manager Stephen McQueen said Alexandra Oval was the preferred venue for the final at this stage.
“All venues are subject to change depending on conditions and other circumstances,” he said.
The qualifying final will be at Murtoa Recreational Reserve with the elimination final at Horsham’s Coughlin Park.
The first and second semi-finals will be played in Stawell and Dimboola the following week.
The semi-final grounds are interchangeable depending on Stawell’s results.
The preliminary final will be played at Alexandra Oval in Ararat.
The grand final will be at Horsham City Oval on September 3.
