The forum is designed for students who are entering year 12 and have a passion for science, engineering and technology.
They will spend 12 days at the Australian National University with fellow students and professional scientists and researchers.
Georgia said she was interested in medical science.
“I’m looking at doing medicine or biomedical science and Melbourne or Monash universities,” she said.
“I’m going to the forum not so much for the science as to meet other people and experience a high-pressure working environment.”
Ravi said he was considering all his options for further study.
“I’m still deciding on what to do after year 12,” he said. “I might do engineering.
“My biggest interest in science is in chemistry.”
Both students said their interest in science grew from their curiosity about how the world worked. The students completed an application process that included writing a letter explaining why they applied and an interview in Ballarat.
College science teacher Tara Crowe said she was glad the students had earned the opportunity to attend the forum.
“We’re really happy for them,” she said.
“They put in the hard yards as the application process was extensive.”
Rotary sponsored both the students to attend the forum.
