David Loveday, 51, appeared in Horsham Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
The court heard Loveday got into a argument with the victim on July 22 and smashed a small television and some speakers.
He caused about $150 damage.
Loveday’s lawyer Nick Graham said the property damage was a demonstration of Loveday’s frustration.
“He was upset about how the relationship was going and he didn’t want to hurt his partner,” he said.
Magistrate Mark Statmann said it was a serious incident that would have been a frightening experience for the victim.
He fined Loveday $450 without conviction.
