The pair completed an ice bucket challenge to raise money towards finding a cure for motor neurone disease.
Last year the Keighreys’ nan Nellie was diagnosed with the disease.
Teachers Paul Scerri, Megan Ashton and Alieshia Dossett also joined in Friday’s ice bucket challenge.
Brooke Keighrey said the challenge raised $1616.
She said she and her sister had raised $5000 so far.
“Everyone’s been very supportive,” Miss Keighrey said.
“We’ve had some large donations but also had children bring in their pocket money.
“The teachers used incentives for the children – if they raised a certain amount they’d get to join in.”
Despite the cold, Miss Keighrey said the plunge was worth it.
“Everyone said I was mad but it’s five minutes of being freezing cold to raise so much money for a cure,” she said.
Miss Keighrey said people could donate to Team Nellie at runmelbourne2016.everydayhero.com/au/team-nellie.
