The retirees were treated to an evening of 50’s style dancing and music by the rockers.
Village activities co-ordinator Sue Antonio said it was a good way to reminisce about their youth.
“The rockers can provide a certain amount of nostalgia that other groups can’t I think,” she said.
“It is about reminiscing and brings to mind the days when they were younger and more mobile.
“You could just see how much they lit up when they got up to dance.”
Ms Antonio said many of residents would have been reminded about their own days at dances in the 50’s.
“The way they socialised back in their younger days was at dances, that is where many met their husbands and wives, so a lot of their happy memories are from those times,” she said.
“It was lovely for the rockers and for the staff to see how much it meant to the residents.”
The Ararat City Rockers were joined by 11 members from the Horsham City Rockers at the event.
Decorations were provided by the Jailhouse Rock Festival.
Ms Antonio said the evening had meant a lot to the residents at the village.
“It was lovely for the rockers and for the staff to see how much it means to them,” she said.
“We have several groups that come in and entertain us regularly, this is the first time the Rockers have come, but residents love to see people from out in the community.
“They really enjoyed seeing the residents have a good time, they went round and asked them to dance and were very good with them.
‘The residents were transfixed. They sat there for an hour and clapped and enjoyed themselves.”
