A Jeparit resident called the Mail-Times to report a good deed that had gone horribly wrong.
The woman said a representative from a farming business was cropping land in the area on Tuesday morning, as part of a fundraiser for the Jeparit-Rainbow Football Netball Club.
“The guy finished two paddocks and was fuelling up his tractor at the only fuel place in town,” she said.
“He had a tractor with an air seeder attached.
“He thought he’d be smart and attempt a u-turn to get out, but he wiped out the fuel bowsers.”
The woman said people were quickly on the scene to fix the problem.
“But we’re not sure how long we'll be without fuel,” she said.
Fingers crossed residents have enough petrol to get them from A to B in the meantime.
