The annual event, which starts in Halls Gap and gives runners a chance to trek through the Grampians National Park, experienced a huge increase in numbers this year following steady numbers in previous years.
Numbers jumped from 762 runners last year to 1176 in 2016.
Participants had the chance to compete in a range of courses ranging from six kilometres to 21 kilometres in length. People could walk or run during the event.
The money raised at Run the Gap goes to community project to enhance walking and bike paths.
Organisers said an extra fundraising initiative this year meant $1 from each registration was donated to Friends of the Grampians to help maintain national park trails.
They said they were thrilled with this year’s Run the Gap, and were looking forward to building on the event’s success next year.
