The past few years has seen the number of volunteers willing to help the Salvation Army door knock drop.
The appeal is an important fundraiser to help the Salvo’s run their many community services.
Ararat Salvation Army Corps officer Greg Turnbull said anyone willing to help was welcome.
“We are still looking for volunteers for the appeal,” he said.
“The local door knock has seen a shortage of people over the last couple of years.”
The appeal has already started with collections at Ararat Safeway and other points around the town.
It will get properly underway at the weekend as the volunteers make their way around town in search donations.
Cash raised from the appeal goes towards the Salvation Army’s drug addiction and gambling services.
It will also help services for homeless people and those who need food and clothing.
Mr Turnbull said every dollar raised from the appeal went back into the Salvation Army’s services.
“One hundred per cent of the money raised goes to the Salvation Army’s foundation for emergency relief,” he said.
“It benefits homeless people. People who need food and clothing but cannot afford it get help.
“Also our different counselling services.”
Also on board for the 2016 appeal is Ararat’s Dominos Pizza.
The franchise is supporting the Salvation Army by donating $1 from every pizza purchased at the weekend to the appeal.
It continues the support Dominos has given the appeal for the past few years.
Mr Turnbull said anyone wanting to help with the doorknock around Ararat at the weekend should meet at the Salvation Army Citadel on High Street at 9am on Saturday.
