The federal government approved a $17,340 redevelopment of the park under the Stronger Communities Program. The project will add shelter, barbecue, dining tables, seating, additional trees and a new entrance.
It will also see power extended to the park to enable public performances and youth friendly events including contemporary music.
Mayor Michael O’Connor said a master plan for the precinct was developed through consultation with the community.
“Council believes the next stage of improvements will support users to spend more time outdoors at the park and increase activities like picnics, outdoor events, community meetings and family gatherings,” he said.
Works are due to be completed in time for the Easter school holidays.
