It was another outstanding weekend for members when they travelled to St Arnaud. A total of 38 PB times were recorded, and this is a reflection on the teams dedication to their training and the dedication of coach, Jo Donnan.
Ararat had 21 swimmers competing, and they brought home a total of 18 medals – three gold, seven silver and eight bronze.
Special mention goes to one of the club’s youngest swimmers, seven year old Aleara Madex, who brought home gold in her 50 metre breaststroke along with silver and bronze in 50 metre freestyle .
Cooper Sutherland has also proved to be a surprise little packet. A new member to the club this season, he brought home gold in the 8-9 year old 50 metre backstroke, silver 8-9 50m breast stroke and bronze in the 8-9 50m freestyle.
Cooper has also been selected to represent the Wimmera district in the inter-districts meet to be held in Melbourne at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. Luke McKinnis will also be competing in Melbourne representing the district as part of the senior team.
Other swimmers that did well at St Arnaud were Ryan Jamieson, Charlotte Walker, Asha Dale, Billie Donnan, Ivan Donnan, Marcus Donnan and Jodan Grant.
This weekend is Ararat’s final swim meet in Stawell. The club is looking forward to 2017, when it will be able to hold its first meet in Ararat since 2008.
Ararat Swimming Club would like to thank Christian’s Bus Co for getting all swimmers and families to and from St Arnaud safely.
