It was an all-round team effort by a side that hasn’t had a lot to celebrate this season. Rick Oliver and Raine Mackley picked up three wickets each as the Clubbers were removed for 137. Luke Jordan led the visitors’ run-chase with 47 runs with Simon Donkers (31), Robert McKinnon (27) and Lachie Green (24) all pitching in. Pomonal’s innings ended on 9/182, landing the team its fourth win for the season.
Aradale is proving itself to be a genuine finals contender after it defeated Tatyoon. A superb 4/11 produced by Cameron Ralph paved the way for a home side victory, while Ahmed Razza chipped in with 3/21 to bowl Tatyoon out for very un-Taty like score of 79.
It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Aradale – it got off to a wobbly start with Riley Wood, Cooper Heard and Travis Horvatek falling cheaply. Opener Tom Williamson (28) top scored, while Brent Tate (25) contributed down the order with Aradale finishing on 6/85.
Joshua Byron was Tatyoon’s leading bowler with 3/17 and Michael Harricks finished with an impressive 2/6 from eight overs. Despite the loss, Tatyoon still sits in third place on the ladder with Aradale behind on percentage in fourth.
Buangor showed no mercy against Halls Gap in their clash at Beaufort on Saturday.
Jack Ganley returned to the Buangor side and didn’t miss a beat, claiming 4/5 while Jack Fraser also showed great form with his 3/6. Ben Hargreaves also didn’t miss out – he finished with 2/6 as Halls Gap was bundled out for a paltry 45. Buangor easily surpassed the total, although did lose Jack Fraser along the way. The home side returned 1/50 with Jack Ganley (25 not out) and brother Harry Ganley (16 not out) leading the charge.
As expected, bottom placed St Andrews struggled against its more superior opponents in Swifts/Great Western at Stawell’s North Park.
James Hosking worked hard to claim a two wickets for the visitors although the Combine’s Tom Eckel (87) and Jackson Dark (82) proved a challenge to remove. St Andrews didn’t come close to the mammoth target of 265 runs set by the Combine. Nathan Costello top scored with 25 for the Saints but brilliant bowling from Jamie Bach (4/22) and Gary Ranton (3/5) saw the visitors skittled out for 73.
