A Vocational Education and Training in Schools hair and beauty program has commenced at Stawell Secondary College this term.
The class of 16 students is a mix of Stawell students and students from Ararat College.
Stawell Secondary College principal Nick Lynch said the class was full and it had also a waiting list.
“We saw there was a real need,” Mr Lynch said.
“It’s a skills shortage. Because it is a skills shortage the employment opportunities are there.”
Mr Lynch said the students will earn a certificate two in hair and beauty this year.
He said there was scope for the students to move on and complete certificate three next year.
