FOOTBALL fanatics have the chance to mix with some of the AFL’s biggest names when the Collingwood Football Club visits Ararat next week. Ararat’s Black and White Gala, hosted by the Ararat Rural City Council on Tuesday, February 9, will offer unprecedented access to the visiting Collingwood footballers.

Tickets to the event at the Alexandra Oval Community Centre are now on sale and include a delicious three-course meal, beer and wine, entertainment and guest speakers.
There will be charity auctions taking place throughout the evening, with big ticket items including a 2016 full-team signed guernsey and 10 tickets to a Collingwood home game of your choice, plus a tour of the Holden Centre – Collingwood’s high performance training facilities.
All visiting Collingwood players will attend the opening of the gala, with opportunity for photos and autographs before entrée.
Ararat Rural City Council mayor Paul Hooper will commence official proceedings with a civic ceremony, while highly regarded sport administrator Dr Sue Brown, also the mother of Magpies’ premiership defender and 114-game veteran Nathan Brown, will host proceedings.
Money raised from the auction will go towards purchasing a new digital scoreboard for Alexandra Oval.
The other highlight of the visit is a business breakfast to be held from 7am at the Alexandra Oval Community Centre with players to conduct a question and answer session.

Collingwood players will also run clinics with local football clubs and schools and visit the East Grampians Health Service.
A handful of players will host fitness sessions on Wednesday morning at Ararat Fitness Centre from 8.30am. A meet and greet session, open to the general public, will follow at 10am at Alexandra Oval.
