A NUMBER of community groups came together to make Ararat’s 2016 Australia Day Ceremony happen on Tuesday morning.

A complimentary breakfast was provided by Ararat Lions Club members, while the Ararat City Band and Sing Australia choir entertained the crowd prior to the ceremony.
In addition to the annual awards being handed out, seven community members undertook the Australian citizenship affirmation that was received by Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Paul Hooper.
Cr Hooper congratulated the new citizens on their decision to become Australians.
“(It’s) a decision welcomed not only by me, but by all Australians,” Cr Hooper said.
