It was such a shock to return from holidays driving this beautiful country, to read about trees to be destroyed along the Ararat to Moyston Road.

How can our council be so short sighted as to agree to this destruction? Vic Roads have decimated hundreds of trees to duplicate the Western Highway. Now they want to start on the minor roads.
The Moyston Landcare Group support the Ararat Landcare Group's Letter to the Editor of The Ararat Advertiser.
All trees need to be respected and preserved. If all trees that have the potential to be impacted by tired, speeding, inexperience and inattentive drivers were to be removed there would be none left - we need to make a stand for these trees or else more will be lost!
The trees around this area are beautiful, providing cover and shelter for birds and animals that are all part of the bigger picture.
Trees are carbon eaters unlike cars which are carbon producers.
At the rate of tree destruction across the globe it is no wonder that human activity and ignorance is progressing climate change.
Vic Roads want to improve road safety, but destruction of trees to build ugly side rails along the road will not guarantee driver safety. Drivers themselves have to consider their circumstances and slow down to enjoy the country side.
The trees do not jump out into the road, drivers run off the road into the trees. There are plenty of other measures that Vic Roads could take to improve the roads as mentioned in the Ararat Landcare Group letter.
We encourage the council to rescind their Planning Permit to have the trees removed.
Start thinking outside the circle when solving problems, dare to be different, think about the health and happiness of the constituents they represent!
