The project will create hundreds of jobs and drive investment during the construction phase.
And once operating, the wind farm will generate drought-proof income for farmers while helping Victoria tackle global warming.
The Ararat Wind Farm is a success story that state policymakers can learn from.
As Energy Minister Lily D'Ambrosio would know, the project is being built thanks to the ACT government's ambitious Renewable Energy Target of 90 percent by 2020.
Victoria won't have to rely on the policies of other states and territories to build renewable energy projects for much longer.
In August, the Andrews government announced a commitment to Renewable Energy Targets for 2020 and 2025 – pledging at least 20 percent by 2020.
By setting ambitious Renewable Energy Targets of 30 percent by 2020 and 50 percent by 2025, the Andrews government can grow renewables, and deliver jobs and investment for regional communities.
A commitment to ambitious Victorian Renewable Energy Targets from the Andrews government will be welcomed by the community.
