"As constructors and investors we're super excited to kick off the first project in really a very long time and certainly the first project that came out of that refining of consensus around our objectives on renewable energy nationally,” General Manager of Renewables at GE, Peter Cowling said.
"That is a testament to the way that RES has conducted itself, to the way the community dialogue works in this part of the world.
"This project is exciting because it has a social licence that very few others have had in recent years.”
The construction of the wind farm is a joint venture between GE and Downer.
GE will also supply the 75 wind turbines to be installed.
