The Ararat Rural City spent this week hanging new decorations and old favourites around the municipality.
The Performing Arts Centre will once again be a centrepiece with two giant wreaths installed on either side of the façade, while last year’s eye catching Christmas flower boxes - which create three colourful presents - will be located on the lawn area adjacent to the Art Gallery’s entrance.
The ‘Australian Christmas Tree’ in High Street has also taken shape, with LED balls and stars now installed on the gum tree. Keeping with the Australian-theme, Santa’s sleigh being pulled by kangaroos has also been installed at the two main entrance town signs on the Western Highway.
This season there is a new addition to the town’s decorations with a Christmas banner and two large bows to be installed on the Ararat Rural City Council’s municipal offices. These will be erected over the weekend.
Barkly Street will also feature plenty of joyful displays, with tinsel, stars and Christmas balls already hanging from the overhead grape vines and Christmas trees in pots to be delivered to local businesses in the coming weeks.
The townships outside of the city haven’t been forgotten either, as wreaths are being installed on rural halls.
The Willaura Christmas tree will also be returning, with decorations to be hung from the existing pine tree on the Ararat/Mortlake Road-Pyrenees Highway and Main Road intersection.
