An advice message has been issued for Challicum and Ballyrogan.
Strong winds are still a concern for firefighters.
A westerly wind change is expected at 5.00pm-5.30pm.
The wind change will bring 40-50 kilometre per hour winds with gusts from 70-80 kilometres.
The fire has the potential to escape the current fire area due to the wind change.
The fire is about 200 hectares in size and it is on the west side of Dyers Road.
People should be mindful that emergency vehicles will be working in the area mopping up.
Drivers should put their lights on low beam to ensure safety due to low visibility.
Traffic Management Points have been established at the following places:
- Corner of Old Geelong Road and Eurombeen Road
- Corner of Old Geelong Road and Price's Road
- Corner of Challicum Road and Pickford Road.
3PM: FIREFIGHTERS and aircraft continue to fight a fire in the Ballyrogan area.
Strong winds are hampering firefighter efforts to control the fire.
The fire is travelling in a south easterly direction and has crossed Hammonds Road.
The fire has the potential to escape the current fire area and affect properties.
Residents are being advised to remain vigilant for a possible westerly wind change.
The fire is about 200 hectares in size.
The fire remains on the east side of Dyers Road and is in stubble and grassland.
Smoke will be visible from nearby communities and roads.
2PM: THE CFA has issued an advice message for Challicum, Ballyrogan, Buangor, Shirley and Jacksons Creek.
Firefighters are responding to a fire in the Ballyrogan area. The fire is currently not yet under control.
The fire is on the corner of Hammonds and Geelong Road travelling in a south easterly direction towards Dyers Road.
There is currently no threat to communities, but you should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.
