The Pumas took home 62 medals from the Games, which were held at Horsham in November, eclipsing their 2014 tally of 48 medals. This was Ararat Pumas 13th year of Games representation.
Sixteen members from the Pinnacle Services Inc. team attended the games. They were split into two teams of eight, labelled A and B, and each team member claimed a medal for their efforts.
It was a brilliant effort by the Ararat Pumas, with the team finishing second overall in the swimming and tying for third in the perpetual shield (best team overall) count.
Ben Langley received runner-up honours in the ‘best male athlete - category A’ division.
Ararat Pumas team manager, Daryl Baldock, was delighted with the results.
“The way they competed was incredible,” he said.
“We had one young guy who had never competed and he won a couple of medals. To see the guys going out there for the first time and having a go was fantastic.”
One of the stars of the team was Tess O’Brien. Tess, affectionately known as “Tessie”, had a year off and returned to the Pumas team in 2015, winning six medals from six events.
Sue McDougall was also a stand out performer for the Pumas. Sue competed after undergoing a knee replacement in late 2014. Initially Sue was reluctant to attend the Games, but following some persuasion by Daryl and the team, she decided to give it a go – and it paid off. Sue brought home five medals from five events.
Pinnacle Services Inc. celebrated the Ararat Pumas’ Tri-State Games success on Tuesday at its Viewpoint Street headquarters. Morning tea was provided for the winning team and each member proudly had their medals hanging around their necks.
