ARARAT - Ararat Turf Club is looking forward to a stellar day at the track when racing returns to NMIT Ararat Park today.
Manager Adam Atchison said rain on Monday night had seen the track downgraded to heavy.
"The track will still race well and with full fields will be a great day of racing," he said.
Atchison is tipping the James Winks' trained Dreaming the Dream will break through for his maiden win in the opening race over 1100 metres after coming runner up in his last start at Stawell on a slow track.
He also likes the well bred Prelusive strike and expects the Terry and Karina O'Sullivan trained Stable Star to place in his first start.
"In race two the Darren Weir trained, last start runnerup at Warrnambool, Red Corner should breakthrough on a heavy track," Atchison said.
"Muertos is returning from a spell and has the race experience to run second and I'm tipping the Michael Moroney trained Squadron to run third."
The best chances in race three, a 1300m maiden, are Ciaron Maher's Spin the Bottle, which should breakthrough after running third in its first start and having a spell, A Chiller ridden and trained by the champion combination of Dean Yendall and Darren Weir, and Anthony Freedman's Amalie.
In race 4, a 2000m maiden, Atchison believed Uno Whats will go one better for Darren Weir and Dean Yendall.
He also rates consistent galloper Black Ferrari and Three Chain Road for place chances.
"In race five, Simple Choice of Mick Price's stable should find this race easier," Atchison said.
"I like Clangstars Ace for second and Apres for third."
In race six, a 1300m handicap, Atchison is tipping Yokozuna to bounce back from a poor Ballarat run.
"Did We Win likes Ararat and should go close for the O'Sullivans and I like last start winner Quick Shake for Simon Morrish for third," he said.
The best chances in race seven are Spirit City, God's Secret and Run for the Hills, while Atchison is tipping a double for Maher in the last with consistent galloper Arohanui.
"In a strong race Tornado Jack should run second and Angel of Rock third," he said.
The first race jumps at 12.50pm.
