The prefecture is around six times the size of Ararat Rural City and has almost three million inhabitants.
Representatives were visiting the Ararat region seeking high quality food and wine.
The delegation held lengthy discussions with Ararat Rural City Mayor, Cr Paul Hooper, Economic Development staff and representatives from Ararat Meat Exports, Langi Ghiran Winery and Red Rock Olives.
“Ararat's food and wine quality far exceeds the Australian standards,” Cr Hooper said.
“None of the producers are prepared to compromise on that high quality for short term gain.”
The delegation resolved to return to the region after the ratification of the Chinese Free Trade Agreement.
Ararat hosts many Chinese delegations that help foster, maintain, and build on more than $40 million worth of yearly exports from Ararat to China.
