Lies Never Die, a supernatural thriller, will be filmed at Aradale as well as another location in the Ararat area that has yet to be announced. Scenes are also going to be filmed at a studio and on location around Melbourne.
Producers Amanda and Mirko Grillini, from Diciotto Productions, said Aradale was the ‘perfect spot’ for the supernatural thriller.
Mirko Grillini visited Aradale a couple of years ago, where he was involved in film with university students from Swinburne.
“We shot inside Aradale, and I fell in love with it,” Mr Grillini said.
“It’s a perfect spot for a supernatural thriller. The location itself is so cinematically viable.”
Starring in Lies Never Die will be Australian actors Luke McKenzie and Steve Mouzakis. McKenzie is best known for his work in Australian dramas Rescue Special Ops and Winners and Losers. Mouzakis’ credits include the movie I, Frankenstein while he has featured in Blue Heelers and The Secret Life of Us.
The Grillinis have enlisted the help of award-winning psychic consultant Donna Abraham for the film. Noted Hollywood writer, Bobby Galinsky, is the screenplay supervisor.
It has been two years since the Grillinis formed the idea of making a film. The couple have done the ground work, now they are on the look-out for community assistance.
“We’re looking for places in Ararat to stay at during filming. We want to incorporate the community in organising the accommodation and catering,” Mr Grillini said.
“We’ll also be looking for extras, and we will have some local people as minor crew. We’re looking to involve as many people as we can.”
Lies Never Die won’t just be a movie that is filmed in Ararat.
“We’re working on a marketing strategy to put Ararat on the map. This will be an international film with an international cast,” Mr Grillini said.
“It’s just not a film, it’s a project. Our aim is to make Ararat the town where Lies Never Die was shot.”
The Grillinis have been in constant contact with Ararat Rural City Council and Grampians Tourism as they start to formulate plans. Filming should commence in April 2016.
