SENIORS are being urged to start planning now for the more than 60 events on offer across the Ararat Rural City during the 2015 Victorian Seniors Festival in October.

In conjunction with local community groups and organisations council will host a range of activities that celebrate older residents.
Ararat Rural City Mayor, Cr Paul Hooper said council is building on last year's program to include plenty of opportunities for local seniors to get out and about.
"The dynamic program features a large range of activities and experiences that provide people aged 65 and over with an opportunity to have fun, be active and meet new people," he said.
This year's special events and activities include:
- U3A presents 100 Shades of Grey, an open day (Thursday, October 15) showcasing the region's community groups
- Active Age Day (Monday, October 19) at Neighbourhood House
- Honey B & the Stingers Free Concert
- Wisdom Wednesdays at the Ararat Regional Art Gallery
- Library activities
- Markets
- Rock n' Roll Dancing
The Ararat and Grampians Visitor Information Centre's popular tours are on again, including a Winery Progressive Lunch, Narrapumelap Homestead tours, Historical tour, Yoga in the Vines and Faberge Egg Painting Workshop.
Tickets for these tours are now on sale from the information centre on 1800 657 158.
Free travel will be available on V/Line rail and coach services on Tuesday October 6, Wednesday October 7, Thursday October 8, Saturday October 10 and Sunday October 11.
Housing, Disability and Ageing Minister Martin Foley said the jam packed festival will celebrate the fantastic contributions seniors make to our communities.
"The festival has a great program of events and I encourage all seniors to make sure they come along," he said.
