HARRISON Cronin booted three goals as Ararat claimed a close qualifying final victory against Stawell in the Wimmera Football League.

The Rats were held scoreless in the opening term, with Stawell taking a 16-point lead at quarter time. They fought back in the second quarter, reducing the margin to three points at the main break.
Ararat trailed Stawell by two points at the final change and although Warriors had more scoring shots, the Rats were able to claim the win, 5.6 (36) to 3.12 (30).
Cronin was named Ararat’s best on ground and he had support from a number of players including Charlie White, Ben Boatman, Domenic Didomernico, Logan North and Jack Antonio.
Ararat’s under 14 side begins its finals campaign against Stawell on Saturday, with the second semi final match to be played at Nhill’s Davis Park.
Rhiley McKinnis, Luke Spalding, Matthew Spalding and Alex Asuncion shone in the last home-and-away round, and the Rats will be looking to continue their unbeaten run.
