Under the name Bec McMaster, Ms Skrabl writes romance novels featuring red-hot alphas, kick-ass heroines and edge-of-your-seat adventures.
Kiss of Steel is her debut 'steampunk novel', set in the late 1800s.
Ms Skrabl said she had always loved the Victorian era and that she wanted to incorporate paranormal and steampunk elements into a romance in that setting.
"I have always been interested in steampunk. It's like historical fiction mixed with sci-fi or even fantasy elements, where the main technology is steam-based. For example the Wild, Wild West movie, Cowboys and Aliens or the first Sherlock Holmes movie all had steampunk elements," she said.
"It's becoming a huge trend at the moment. As for paranormal, vampires and werewolves have been fairly well explored so I wanted to do something different with that mythos."
Kiss of Steel will be launched at Ararat Library on Monday night between 7pm and 9pm. There will be a giveaway and autographed copies of the novel will be available for $12.
If you wish to attend, please RSVP to Chris Day-Plush at Toyland on 5352 2380.
