Leehane pipped Jim Brennan for the Chemmart Pharmacy-sponsored prize, with both players finishing on 78-12-66.
However, Brennan picked up the Secret Six Holes best score. Best scratch score went to reigning club champion Michael Harricks with 74.
Max Chamings won B grade with 85-16-69 from Ken Farrar, who recovered well from the effects of an impromptu ‘swim’ in the 18th hole water hazard to retrieve his run-away buggy.
Consolation balls were won by Ian Gibson 67, Clyde Vearing 69, Phil Roberts and Brian Leehane both with 70. Nearest the pin winners were Peter Gemmola (second and sixth holes), David Crutch (eighth), Daniel Leehane (15th), David Jennings (16th) and Bill Marriott (18th).
Tomorrow’s event is the annual teachers’ get square with a two-person multiplication stableford.
